B7510 Shifting Woes

I've been having worsening problems shifting from L to H and back again. It's as if I'm hitting something that won't allow the gears to mesh. PTO engagement on the other hand is smooth and flawless.

I've tried the whole engage the clutch, tap the F and R HST pedal, then try shifting again, and still it's a problem. This thing shifted nice when new. Got about 130 hours on her. Ideas appreciated.

When having trouble raise the front end with the loader and see if it shifts easily, that would mean that you are having gear wind up between the front and rear axle. Front tires are the ones most likely to be the problem. Check your air pressures and equalize to where you aren't having problems. To run the tractor and keep forcing the lever put's extra stress on it so be sure to lube it. ....

Thanks Art. Good idea on the front and rear axle gear bind that I may be experiencing. I run almost exclusively in 4WD, so I think I may see how she shifts in 2WD as a test too.

One other thing that I failed to mention here. For the 20hr. hydro fluid change I put in Ambra Multi 134 instead of the Super UDT that comes with the machine from the factory. I went around and around with this decision before I did the change and didn't think it would make that big of a difference. But now I'm wondering... I know the Super UDT is lighter weight, but then again the Ambra is multi-viscosity. ....

I wouldn't have switched the oil, to me that'slike having an after-market loader. Who know's best but the people that designed it as to the type of loads and where they should be placed other then the manufacturer. I am totally aware of what it says on oil cans and claims by manufacturers. How is it working to change your air pressures? ....

Do you leave it in 4wd while driving on hard surfaces? ....

Check your tire pressures. If when raising the fronts after driving in four wheel drive on a hard surface they turn in a forward motion then they would need more air. If they turn to the rear then they need less. ....
